Ragnar Brothers consists of three old friends who ought to know better but can’t resist the urge to design boardgames. That’s Steve and Phil Kendall and myself Gary Dicken. It all started in the early 1980s when we gathered with our reprobate friends to recreate American Civil and Second World War battles with 25mm Airfix figures and large pieces of chip board painted green. Ah! the good old days when entire weekends would disappear in a heady mix of artificial cannon smoke and beer fumes.
We also did our share of RPG and lots of boardgames which resulted in a level of disenchantment with some of our purchases. We loved ‘Brittania’ for instance but we did not love ‘Buck Rogers...’ and because too many games started to fall into the not loved category Phil tried his hand at designing and came up with ‘Angola’.
We have not looked back and fifteen games later we are getting ready to bring out number sixteen!. We do not make a lot of money but we enjoy ourselves enormously. Hey! 50 something guys have to do something or they descend into DIY and then there is no way back from middle age.
